Balance - Agility - Strength

  • Practicing tai chi strengthens the muscles and ligaments, especially in your legs and core.
  • The movements of the form are designed to develop a keen sense of balance, improve flexibility, and increase agility.

Health and Fitness

  • A person with good chi is healthy and strong, according to traditional Chinese medicine. Practicing tai chi on a regular basis will strengthen muscles & ligaments, ease the stiffness of achy joints, and relieve the anxiety of a stressful day.
  • We begin each class with a (Qigong) warm-up routine followed by instruction and/or practicing the movements of the form. The form consists of 108 movements that are performed in a very smooth and graceful, dance-like manner. If done correctly, you will develop excellent hand-eye coordination (mind-body connection), and balance (equilibrium).

Self Defense Application (technique)

  • Traditional Yang style tai chi was founded by Yang Luchan circa 1820. It is the most popular style of tai chi practiced around the world today.
  • Although practiced primarily for its health and physical fitness benefits, tai chi has roots in traditional Chinese martial arts. Self-defense applications (or fighting technique) are inherent in each of the 108 movements of the form.
